Indigenous employment

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Western Australian Tertiary Institutions contribute significantly to social, cultural and academic development through skills that ensure establishment of a culture that acknowledges and celebrates diversity. As an institute, Curtin University of Technology (Curtin) recognises the value of, and the importance of establishing a diverse workforce.
These initiatives include strategies and support for a number of different programs including:
- Indigenous Employment Strategy - Corporate-wide Five year plan detailing a suite of employment and training services designed to engage with the Indigenous community.
- Traineeships - Traineeships are available in business, and non-trade related professions and may take up to 12 months to complete
- School based traineeship - Available to students who are enrolled full-time at School and seek part-time work with Curtin (host employer)
- Indigenous cadetship support (ICP) - Available to Indigenous Australian's studying an undergraduate degree and seeking work at Curtin on fulltime/part time arrangement
- Structured Training and Employment Project (STEP) - A government funded project that provides flexible funding to Curtin by way of wage support, advertising and accredited training
