Appointment Business Case

The Appointment Business Case (ABC) Form is the approval process for all appointment requests which have a financial impact for Curtin. Your ABC request will be reviewed by management who will approve or reject your request. Key considerations in approving a request are detailed in the bullet points below. Providing supporting information which justifies the need for the role will assist the approvers to make an informed decision regarding your request.

Key considerations:

  • What is the main purpose of the role?
  • Can the work be absorbed within the existing staff complement in your area?
  • Are there overwhelming or operational imperatives for the position?
  • Are there safety or reputational risks to the University if the position is not filled?
  • Are there legal requirements to fill the position?
  • Would demonstrable financial loss to the University result if this position was not filled?
